根據FOSS Patents報導，Google在與微軟專利戰敗訴告終，而這樣的損失所帶來的後果可能是Google Maps 服務在德國被禁。微軟在專利糾紛中說成是 Google 直接利用其專利“computer system for identifying local resources and method therefor” 

 微軟正在試圖取得禁令，禁止Google Maps。
直至目前，法官Dr. Matthias Zigann已告訴Google，至少目前局面傾向對微軟有利，判決谷歌承擔侵權責任。
這次慘敗的結果當然可以避免，但是可能需要 Google 支付許可費或其他一些開脫解決問題。
